I’m a freelance translator and conference interpreter with over seven years of professional experience. My profession regularly entails working across the globe, either remotely using modern telecommunications technologies or in-situ, according to the needs of my clients. My career has allowed me to travel abroad for extended periods, taking me from the Canary Islands in Spain all over Europe, and even further afield.

I hold a degree in Translation and Interpreting (English–French) from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2016), where I was fortunate to learn from excellent mentors. Their guidance gave me a solid foundation in specialised, technical, legal, and audiovisual translation, as well as simultaneous and consecutive interpreting techniques.

My passion for interpreting was clear from the start, so I opted to pursue formal training as a conference interpreter after graduating and obtained the EMCI Master’s in Conference Interpreting at the University of La Laguna — a program recognised across Europe for its high standards. Once again, my mentors were of the highest calibre and my time spent in the European Institutions in Brussels was an invaluable part of my professional development. During my time in La Laguna, I also completed an intensive course in Public Service Interpreting.

Qualified to work in a broad range of settings, I am here to help you find the tailored solution to your needs, whether it be for an international congresses or conference, private business meetings, or your appointments for legal or medical services offered by a public institution or agency in Spain.

Pursuing a dream — one that many might call a little crazy.

Kathryn en Japón

Lifelong learning, a passion for languages, and adding new languages to our skillset is the cornerstone of any great interpreter’s professional career. With that in mind, I packed my suitcase and moved to Japan with only a basic grasp of the language, determined to immerse myself fully in the culture and explore the country on my own terms. What began as an adventure quickly became something more: two years later, I founded my own translation company in Japan, which I later relocated to the Canary Islands upon returning in 2023.

My four years in Japan helped me build on what I already loved doing. Today, I continue to work as a professional translator and interpreter — while also offering personalised travel itineraries for those who want to get the most from their time in Japan and experience what life is really like when you explore away from the typical tourist hotspots. This passion project keeps me closely connected to the country I’ve grown to love, and I have the pleasure of returning each year.
